The hotel and its history
The Montenerone hotel is all along linked to the Lorenzoni family who built in the early 1800. In 1898 the building was destinated to an inn, with the denomination "Abramo's inn", grandfather of the current owners. The inn used to welcome wayfarers, the so called carters that from the Adriatico sea and from the near valleys used to go to the close Umbria, in particular to the town of Città di Castello, a flourishing center for history, arts, culture and commerce.
Since 1929 the building was renamed as Albergo Montenerone, managed by the older daughter of Abramo, Maria Antonietta. With time also Adele, Giuseppe and Maria (parents of the current owners) managed the activity. After Adele's death, in 2005, Alfredo, Rosa and Abramo Lorenzoni, grandsons of Abramo, decided to renew their ancient activity.
In the welcome room there is a copy of the painting The Battle of Lepanto by Vicentino. Acts of the counts of Piobbico, who taked part into that historical battle, are still alive and make the town very striking.
